Okay, I took a 6-month leave of absence! So sue me. Now, I vow to quickly catch up with all the books I found, liked, and didn’t post.

The Whole Story of Half a Girl, by Veera Hiranandani. A sixth-grade girl looses her feeling of identity when she switches schools. $6.99.

A Horse of Her Own, by Anne Wedekind. A girl who rides at a stable but has never owned a horse is shocked to learn of her favorite stable horse being sold. $7.99.

Weslandia, by Paul Fleischman and Kevin Hawkes. A delightful picture book particularly good for older kids. A strange plant sprouts in a boy’s backyard and he ends up founding his own culture. $6.99.

These are my three top picks from this time. I need you to know, the library was redoing the shelving system for most of that, making it impossible to find anything, and for one whole month, I was on vacation in Europe.

Though the first two books might only be pleasing to girls, I recommend these books to all.
